Help obtaining the NZeTA New Zealand

NZeTA for New Zealand 🇳🇿

Since 1 October 2019, the New Zealand government has introduced an electronic travel authorisation called "NZeTA", which is compulsory for entering and transiting New Zealand (via Auckland only). The NZeTA is valid for 2 years, for stays of up to 90 days as a tourist.  You are authorised to stay for a maximum of 6 months per year and must pay a TIVL axis for nature conservation (included in the NZeTA price). Consular fees start at 12 €. The average time taken to obtain the NZeTA is 3 days for urgent departures.

What are the eligibility criteria for the New Zealand NZeTA?

1️⃣ Passport

Travellers must have a passport that will still be valid at least 3 months after the end of their stay.

2️⃣ Current visa

You do not need to be in possession of a current New Zealand visa.

3️⃣ Location

You must apply before you leave for New Zealand.

How much does NZeTA cost?

Visiting New Zealand?  You can enter the country as many times as you like, for a maximum of 3 months at a time.

Are you passing through New Zealand?  If you are transiting through Auckland airport without leaving the airport, you can choose NZeTA Transit. Please note that if you need to collect your baggage, you will need a standard NZeTA.

What is the compulsory IVL tax?

New Zealand has introduced an IVL tax (International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy) via NZeTA. It aims to support conservation and tourism infrastructure projects to reduce the ecological impact of travellers in New Zealand.

The fee is NZD 35 (19 €) and is included in the NZeTA application fee. From 1 October, the fee will be NZD 100 (54 €).

International visitors applying for an NZeTA are subject to the tax, including those from visa-exempt countries for short stays (90 days or less). This does not apply to New Zealand nationals, Australians, diplomats, people with New Zealand visas, Business Visa or APEC travel card holders and passengers in transit without baggage reclaim.

For a trip to New Zealand, the Electronic Travel Authorisation, also known as NZeTA, is mandatory.

The NZeTA allows you to travel to New Zealand as many times as you wish, for up to 3 months. To be eligible for the NZeTA, you must meet several criteria: possess a passport valid for at least 3 months after the end of your stay, be in possession of a valid New Zealand visa, make your application before you leave for New Zealand and pass through New Zealand territory for tourism or to transit.

The NZeTA consular fee is 31 € for a stay tourism and 12 € for transit. Authorisation to enter New Zealand is subject to obtaining an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority - electronic travel authorisation) which must be obtained before his departure for New Zealand.

When should you travel to New Zealand?

As with Australia, in New Zealand the seasons are reversed. It is advisable to visit from December to February or from March to May. New Zealand's climate will be warm but humid.

Places to visit in New Zealand

At the top of Milford Soundin the Fiordland provinceyou'll find a secret place: Lake Quill. Starting point for Sutherland FallsDiscover the breathtaking scenery of the highest waterfalls in the world. In the heart of a fishing village, enjoy a swim with the dolphins at Kaikoura on theSouth Island in an idyllic setting.

Located in the south-west ofthe South Island, Doubtful Sound is one of New Zealand's most mysterious places. Only visitable as an excursion from Te Anau or Manapouri, you'll come across dolphins, sea lions and all manner of other wildlife.

Not very popular, Glenorchy is a small village in theOtagau. Here you'll find exceptional scenery where peace and tranquillity reign. With its turquoise-blue lake surrounded by mountains, you'll be able to recognise scenes from the World of Narnia or the Lord of the Rings.
