NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) is an online visa application system that allows travellers to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation to enter New Zealand. This is a mandatory step for all travellers who are not New Zealand or Australian citizens and who wish to visit New Zealand for a short stay of less than 6 months.
The NZeTA is not a visa per se, but rather an electronic travel authorisation that allows you to register with New Zealand Immigration prior to your trip. Once your NZeTA has been approved, you will be allowed to enter New Zealand for a tourist, work or transit stay of less than 6 months. However, you will still need to complete immigration formalities when you arrive in New Zealand.
It is important to note that NZeTA is not mandatory for all travellers. Some travellers may be eligible to enter New Zealand without applying for an NZeTA, including citizens of certain countries who can enter without a visa and travellers travelling on an Australian passport.
